Remarkable remarks against the Brahmins, Patnaik removed the minister from the post

New Delhi: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik fired the Agriculture Minister for insulting remarks against the Brahmin community.

On Friday, CM Naveen Patnaik removed Agriculture Minister Damodar Raut from the post. Patnaik told reporters here that I reject any person who makes derogatory remarks against any caste, race or religion. I have removed Dr. Damodar Rout from the Council of Ministers.

Raut is also the Vice-President of Biju Janata Dal. Patnaik told that a letter was sent to the governor in the evening to accept the dismissal of Rout.

However, Rout has not responded as he was in his constituency. Significantly, he made an insulting remark against the Brahmin community in a program in Malkangiri on December 17, after which state-wide demonstrations were performed.

75-year-old legislator from Paradip had said, "No tribal is demanding begging in any part of the state, while anyone can see Brahmins begging at places like bus stop." The Brahmins have 9% population in the state . They had demonstrated dharna at different places.

Significantly, Raut, a seven-time legislator, has also been in dispute earlier. In October, he made a controversial remark against a BJP leader and anganwadi workers.
